A STAR IS BORN >>> My name is Ashley and I am 23 years old. I'm a college student studying journalism and creative writing. In here, you can ask me about anything. Friends and family have told me that I give good advice. They say that I know how to help them, so I figured I'd use it to my advantage and start a column.

*With beauty made to be seen, she is America's queen*

I love to compete in beauty pageants. I am currently running for Miss Indiana, so be watching out for me! Doing pageants, I have also gotten started into the modeling business.

I have a passion for writing. Poetry, songs, short stories, etc. I have been writing poetry since I can remember, literally. My mom has a writing talent as well, so I assume I got it from her. I'd love to eventually write full time for a magazine.

Likes
Writing, movies, music, fashion, giving advice, beauty pageants.

Dislikes
Catty/jealous girls, rudeness, when people steal my pictures, fakers, liars.

if i were to but baby oil on me when i am tanning, would that get me darker a little faster than not putting baby oil on?

You really shouldn't use baby oil if you are going to be tanning. It's extremely dangerous to your skin. A lot of people in our parents' and grandparents' generation did that a lot and that's why you see so many older people with skin diseases and spots all over them.

does getting your hair dyed professionally last longer than the stuff you buy at the grocery store?

because everytime i dye my hair myself it lasts 2 weeks tops then its totally faded (and you can only dye your hair like every 8 weeks or so)
and i dont want to waste that kind of money getting it professionally done if its just going to fade right away

any thoughts?

Oh yeah, it lasts longer with a professional. The chemicals that professionals use at salons are stronger so the color won't fade as fast. And the results are much more likely going to be better looking than home kits as well. It can be pricey, especially if you have really long or really thick hair, but I generally think it's worth it.

so im considering getting a perm. my hair is naturally straight and its not thin but not thick either its sorta in between. i dont want like really tight curls i want loose ones that are sort of wavy. the reason im considering it is because it takes a long time to curl my hair. i go to a salon to get my hair cut so i know it wont turn out bad but what do yall think? do you think its too drastic? im worried it will turn out bad and i want to know if you can straighten your hair after you get a perm. thanks!

If you are scared about how it will look, then start off by getting the style you want in a semi-perm. This kind of perm washes out after so many washes, usually lasting a few weeks. Then if you decide that you like it, you can get it redone in a permanent perm.

I have medium lenght hair but it takes about 3 hours to blow dry and straighten!! any tips?

If you blow dry your hair right when you get out of the shower, then that could be why it takes so long. Try wrapping your hair up in a towl for about 20 mins so it soaks up the access water and then blow dry and it shouldn't take as long.

How do swimsuit models get their stomachs so flat, like is that like having tight abs or is it just that they dont have any fat in that area. is it because they workout by running or crunches?

thanks

I'm getting into the modeling industry myself and I can tell you that a lot of models have fast metabolisms and are naturally thin, so they tend to have flatter stomachs. This is exactly the way I am. Many models actually get into modeling ultimately because they have good genes. I'd like to point out to the other people that said, "Oh they are annorexic," or "They do drugs and that helps keep them thin,".... actually the vast majority of models are healthy and don't have an eating disorder or use drugs, nor do they diet addictively and that is a fact. I'm not saying there aren't models that do, there are plenty of them out there, yes, but a lot of that is honestly just stereotype. But anyways, to answer your question, most models are either naturally thin and have flat stomach or they get that way by eating right and working out well.
