Advicenators discussion: While you're browsing and have some spare time/money... Imperialistic wrote Tuesday April 3 2007, 9:51 pm: I put together a list of sites you can randomly click on; maybe donate money (for some, you just need to click... no money involved) and help people. I'll add more whenever I find them.
The Hunger/Breast Cancer/Child Health/Literacy/Rainforest/Animal Rescue Site: Click on these buttons daily and sponsors will donate money and supplies on your behalf.
- I've been doing this for the past two years. It takes little to no effort and you're helping out anyway.

Race For The Big Cats: The site works just like the one above. You click on a species from the cat family and they're habitat is suppored by sponsors.
- I keep picking the Snow Leopard because I'm biased ;)

Save The Rainforest: Sponsors donate money to preserve the rainforest.
- I just found this one :D

This is where your own cash comes in.
World Vision: Sponsor a child or buy a gift for a village.
- This is where your own money starts playing in. I have my own little girl that I have sponsored and I have so much fun sending her letters and stickers. I guess it feels good to feel needed by someone and give back to them. It's only $30 dollars a month (usually). I'd recommend adopting a Hope Child; the ones with or in danger of acquiring AIDS. If you don't want to make a commitment, you can just donate a gift to the community. It's pretty neat.

Act Now (Amnesty Intl.): Take action against violations of human rights.
- Sometimes it just takes a simple letter. I've written tons of letters and it feels crappy when I get the same one back with the wording changed (lol Prime Minister :| ) but if ten other people write too and so do ten of their friends, my voice will be heard. That's why it's not just important to write, but to spread awareness about the issue too to make sure you have collective support for what you're protesting against.

Digital Charity: Read people's pleas for money and donate it to them.
- It seems to be a pretty great site. People asking for tons of money to buy SUVs is kind of annoying but there are tons of people on there who actually do seem to need money.

Volunteer Match: Find volunteering opportunities in your area.
- The database doesn't contain all volunteering positions out there but it has quite a few. So if you're spending more than half your day online because you have nothing better to do, you might as well volunteer. I've volunteered with people of all ages, genders and backgrounds and they're not kidding; it really is a rewarding experience.
