Why do I sweat so much?

Question Posted Tuesday July 22 2014, 9:04 am

First of all, I'm a 14 year old girl. I am incredibly sweaty. I swear through t-shirts, sweatshirts, I even manage to get sweat stains on tanktops that don't even touch my armpits! I've tried EVERYTHING from uncented deodorants, clinical strength, stick, roll on, and nothing works. I shower daily and scrub my pits (I've also tried several different soaps). I shave, too (though for a little while I stopped shaving because someone said it traps sweat.... It doesn't) This didn't become a problem until I turned 13 around the middle of my 7th grade year. This doesn't affect any others parts of my body, just underarms. What's wrong with me? What can I do?

This is not so rare in girls your age. You are most likely being heavily influenced by hormones. Let me try to put this simply. Hormones affect sweat glands in the entire body, but the ones in the armpits are ones that are usually affected most. This can lead to excessive sweating. It shouldn't bother you too much, sweating is a natural way for a body to detox. I take it that from what you've written you maintain your hygiene regularly. This should pass later when your hormones stabilize. If it persists, you can always go see a doctor and maybe ask for an analysis of your hormonal status if they do that where you're from. I hope I helped.

Best wishes,
