Cut Gum

Question Posted Wednesday March 14 2012, 1:50 pm

I had a root canal and my gum was cut. After a week it still hurts and a chunk of my gum hangs from the roof of near the tooth from the roof of my mouth. Although in pain, should I have it removed or will it heal and grow back on its'own?

Getting a root canal is never fun. (I know. Had one a few years back) It is normal for the pain to last up to two weeks, but if the pain is severe, like you are downing tons of pain killers and or relievers, then I would suggest going back to the dentist and having them look at it, as it could be an air pocket or whatever they called it. As for the dangling piece, leave it alone. It'll heal on it's own. Mine did. You just have to give it some time.
