Water Damage on ipod touch??

Question Posted Saturday September 17 2011, 9:53 pm

So i went to the beach the first week in july and my 8g iPod touch was in the rain (the one without the camera). it was only out there for like 5 min? if that! maybe 2. But it was not like dead in the rain, it was under the 1st floor deck like in the car port area i guess. (does that make sense?) well stupid me i go inside the house and i try to turn it on. It flashes white and goes dead. So i charge it. and when i turn it on the touch screen does not work. Sooooo, i decide to put it in my suitcase and not worry about it until i get home. When i get home like July 9th (ish) i put it in a bag of rice and keep it in there for about a week. well probably like 2 or 3 weeks because i forgot about it. So i know it was dried out enough. hahaha. well, i take it out of the rice and leave it and then like a week or 2 later i guess, I plugged it up (because it was dead) and tried to "slide to unlock" and the touch screen does not work. Inside the headphone jack the thing is white. (PH paper?) my warrenty is wayyyy done. On youtube i have seen people say use fingernail polish remover in the headphone jack on a Q-tip. others say use rubbing alcohol. PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ill do ANYTHING for my ipod to work again :''( thanks soo much in advance! :) oh yeah,,,

The Screen is NOT working you say? Here it is... Simple explanation. You have to get a new one. Once an LCD screen gets wet, it short circuits and pretty much becomes useless. Which is why keeping screened electronics dry is VERY important. You can buy a brand new ipod, or you can order a new screen for it. Either way, fixing/replacing will cost money. I suggest if/when you do get a new screen/ipod, that you get one of those waterproof casings for it to prevent any future damage. Even if your warranty is over with, the people of the company will still fix it... for a price of course. Also, with the Ipod, the battery after time begins to deteriorate. Perhaps look into getting a new battery for precautions, or you could also take it to an electronic shop to see if they can possibly fix it. Since most do. It shouldn't cost anything to just look at it.
