Weird symptoms from Implanon Birth Control

Question Posted Thursday January 13 2011, 2:05 am

Okay so I'm 19. Not that it makes a different. I had Implanon inserted in October 2010 and so far it's been great, a few weeks after i got it, i had some brown discharge and my mate who has it says it's normal, it only lasted 3 days...I haven't had any "period" but since a couple days ago(about 3 or 4) I've been having brown discharge. very light, and no bleeding. I've had slight cramps but nothing painful and yeah no bleeding, just light brown discharge...It's annoying and I'm seeing my boyfriend in a little over 2 weeks and don't want this to be aroundd when he gets here because i don't know if having sex with this thing happening could make me have an actual period. Does anyone know what's going on? and how long this will last for?

Well, from everything that Implanon says, it is perfectly normal, however, there are soooo many different symptoms and implanon is so different for every girl that you just can't tell how your experience is going to be. Let me share mine. It sucked, bigtime. I had it for 1 1/2 years, and I bled nonstop. Like at the beginning, I was the same as you, annoying discharge, crampy all the time, major mood swings. And then the bleeding started about a month and a half into it. Anyways, I kept telling myself that it was going to take time for it to become normal, and I called implanon to see if what was happening was a normal symptom, and they assured me that after 6-8 months it would become normal, but it never did, so after 18 months I had to get it taken out, and I am really glad I did. I really wish I had gotten it out earlier. Truth is, implanon does not have a very high success rate (well, its successful at preventing pregnancy, but thats about it) all the girls I have talked to had to get it taken out early. So if you are bothered by your symptoms, and cant imagine living with them for a long time, I would consider getting it out.

Sorry its long, hope I helped!
