Hey I was bored, so I did what a buncha people do and searched my email online to see if someone posted anything about me online. It made me realize something really creepy- when I searched "mellophone03" a ton of stuff came up about advice I gave on this site. If you sign up to this, anyone can figure out so much about you. I havent used this site in 2 years but its still out here!
I don't even use this anymore and I just wanna get rid of it. I don't need people reading all this stuff about me. When I used this site, I thought it would be a lot more private.
Anyways, can you please tell me how I would delete my profile? I want to not just delete my column, but the answers I left to people's questions.
PS: No, I'm not asking you to help me cuz I've done something wrong on here or said something I shouldn't have, but I realized a put a lot of personal information into this and it makes me uncomfortable.
We don't delete answers or questions that do not contain identifying information.
If you no longer want the account, all the answers and questions will be moved to the orphans account.
This keeps the people who answered your questions from losing their work, and the questions you answered from losing their value.
Once your column is deleted, no references to mellophone03 will remain. The answers will still be here, but nobody will know that you gave them.
As for thinking it would be more private, I am really curious what ideas you had about that. Could you tell me in what way you felt it was less private than it could have been?
I am guessing you chose to use a name that you use other places, which is a big no-no when you are talking about yourself, but other than that, is there anything that we could do to change things in a positive way?
