should i risk my life?

Question Posted Saturday July 10 2010, 8:26 pm

Sorry my title is a bit overdramatic but I couldn't think of a better one.

Okay so today I was playing in my lacrosse tournament and I went into a panic attack/hyperventialtion. My symptoms were that of hyperventilation (tingling in arms and mouth, light headed, couldn't catch breath) it happened in the middle of the game and it started gradually. It started with shortness of breath and the feeling that I couldn't catch my breath. I've felt this before during games and it usually goes away so I didn't think much of it. But then I started getting symptons I've never expierenced before. It started with feeling light headed and it increased to the point that I was feeling tingles everywhere, especially my arms, mouth/toungue and eyes. By this time I was lying on the ground and I was surrounded by my coaches and about 6 different nurses, trainers and doctors. The tingles were so intense that I couldn't move my toungue or relax my hands. They said my pulse was racing. I really do think panicing on my part made it worse. Even though everyone was talking me down and trying to calm me, in the back of my head I was really scared. After about 5 minutes they put me in a golf cart and took me to the aid tent. There they calmed me down more untill evetually I felt better. Now I'm home and feeling better but we have more games tomorrow. Everyone says I will be better to play tomorrow but in the back of my head I'm scared its going to happen again. So what I want to know I should be doing now to insure a recovery and how long should this recovery last. Do you think I will be fine to play tomorrow? And help or similar stories will be much appreciated :).

Here is some more info about myself:
Nothing like this has ever happened before to me.
I'm a goalie in lacrosse
I'm 17, female
I'm healthy and have no health issues that we know of
I had eaten and hydrated well before the game
it was not excessivly hot
it was my second game, and I had played the first game with no problem
I had a 5 hour energy before the first game
The first game was at 2, and the second was at 4
It took me about 20 min to be good again

I think that's about it....thank you in advance :)
