Can you be charged for answering phone calls?

Question Posted Wednesday June 16 2010, 11:14 am

My mom doesn't have long distance on the phone at home and my best friend from Washington wants to call me. I know I can't call out to her because the phone won't let me since we don't even have long distance coverage. If my friend calls me (it is long distance for her too, of course) with her long distance coverage will I be charged for picking up the phone and answering it?

And, no, this is NOT a cell phone. It's a landline at our house!

On a regular land line phone, you won't be charged if a friend calls you long distance and you pick it up. The person that would be charged is whomever is making the phone call. So answer that phone! :)
