MMR (measles/rubella) vaccine

Question Posted Friday July 31 2009, 11:38 pm

I need to provide proof of MMR vaccines for the university. Unfortunatley, I have no access to records prior to 6 years-old, however, my previous doctor has proof of the 2nd vaccination (two-part series of vaccines) that I received when I was 18.

I read that infants are expected to receive the first MMR dose at or around the 1st birthday, and the second dose at around 4 years old. I did not receive the 2nd dose until I was 18, or perhaps received it again due to missing records.

My question is, if there is a long period of time passes between the first MMR dose and the 2nd dose (probably 17 years in my case), is that acceptable? Or would I need to show proof of immunity? Thanks

Hi there :]

I'm not sure how to answer your first question, but usually the mmr shots come together... As far as immunization, i believe they will need copies to be sure... Good luck :D
