The Nokia N95 runs S60 3rd Edition. This means you can download anything that supports this (or S60 1st/2nd editions).
Do a google search for: S60 software, free S60 software, free S60 games etc. You'll find a wide range of sites to choose from. One result I found was www.freesymbiansoft.com .
Beware though, for nothing is truly free.
- Don't give your mobile/cell number away. If they claim it's the only way to get the free software, it's not worth it.
- Be aware that any time you give your email away to one of these sites, you run the risk of receiving hordes of spam.
- Any of the programs could be dodgy, and some can even be virii. Judge by the authenticity of the site and how many positive reviews for the software there are. The program should be a .SIS or .SISX file which installs itself when on the phone. An .EXE file is for Windows and will most likely be malicious to your computer.
As for GPS, the GPS positioning itself and the maps are free and don't need a data connection. Nokia Maps and local maps for your area should be already on your phone. If not, you can download them, plus maps for more areas worldwide, to your computer here:
When in Nokia Maps go to options > tools. Select 'go offline' if you don't want to use the data connection, and 'turn GPS on' if you want to use GPS. Please note that GPS will not work well if you are indoors, and sometimes fails in cloudy weather.
GPS Navigation, on the other hand (voice directions) cost money. You have to get a licence - either from the Extras menu in Nokia Maps or from the site above. [ dotto's advice column | Ask dotto A Question ]
