dreams

Question Posted Wednesday May 27 2009, 10:24 pm

18/f
i have this recurring dream all the time and it scares me.

no matter what i'm dreaming about, i always end up back in my house usually with my mom and maybe with some other family members, but it ends up just me and her. its always late at night and someone is trying to break into the house. there's either one or two people and they'll drive up and start trying to bust down the door and come through the windows and kill or kidnap us. i always call the police but they either say they can't help me because they have other emergencies and just hold me on the line or they say they're sending someone out but they just never show and we're just stranded there terrified. i usually wake up right about here.

the last time i had it though which was about a week ago it progressed. i was asleep in my room when the robbers started trying to come through my bedroom window so i ran to my mom's room, woke her up, and started to call the police, but this time the robbers actually got IN the house and we were huddled in the corner of her room scared i was on the phone with 911 and we could see their shadows and flashrights ready to come right around the door of her room.

i have this dream so much and i always wake up terrified.

why does this keep happening & what could it mean? i've never experienced this.. no one's broken in the house before, i haven't watched scary movies lately and even when i do they don't bother me, i can't think of anything that would cause it. but i've had this dream close to 10 times, and now it's really scary that it's starting to get further. any ideas here?

It really does seem like it to me you are very concerned about your safety and the safety of your family. You don't even have to be influenced by something scary. It seems like you just want to be safe and protected day and night, because you're worried something will happen to the family. And it seems like, whenever you try reaching for help, no one will bother helping you. You're worried also that you'll be on your own when something ever happens.

My suggestion is, talk to your family, or who you reside with, and tell them your recurring nightmares. They will probably assure you that nothing will happen to you nor your family, and they'll also be there to help you with any problems.

This is just a subconscious feeling that you're getting, so it could be that you don't feel it much now, but your brain works in mysterious ways sometimes, and will pick up the most random things. Maybe deep down you do feel scared something will happen, and maybe you don't. But like I said, this is all subconscious thinking.

Just discuss it with your family, and they will probably tell you that you are going to be OK, just like your folks. This may help you sleep at night.

I hope I helped, and good luck with the nightmares.

Leah
