Tattooing myself

Question Posted Friday March 13 2009, 8:06 pm

Hi, well I'm 15/f. Ok, so I used to think tattoos were extremely trashy [every parent's dream right? haha] but recently I've been more intrigued about getting one. I still think some of them are trashy, so I'd rather just a small plain black one [I know the colors fade and look gross over time]. Well, I don't want to go to a parlor because 1) I'm too young and my mom isn't exactly going to know about it and 2) I think it'd be more personal if I did it to myself. I am 100% positive I could do it correctly, as I am pretty creative and can tolerate most pain. I am also positive I wouldn't get an infection because I'm a major germ freak so I'll be sterilizing the needle every time I dip the sucker in the ink haha. So, I don't wan't you to say "think about what you're doing" because I have. I know tattoos are permanent and I know that some people will look down upon them but I don't really care, and I know I wont years from now. Really all I'm asking for is just advice. No websites, no preaching. I'm going to do it so wouldn't you rather I did it the right way and not get infected? So please, some tips on doing it and where to get it done. Where is the most/least painful place to get one? I was just planning on getting a small, black peace sign. What ink should I use?

Thank you all, I will rate all questions :)

Well, I'm glad you're at least set on it and not shaky about it.

All I know is, from friends and sources, some painful places to get Ink'd are:
-Side of upper arm
-Around the bottom of your ribcage

All I recommend is maybe having a friend or a mirror around when you're doing it. Because it's not easy at all to do it yourself, just a heads up.

Maybe a tattoo that's small, but catchy, something that defines your personality or a trait of yours.

That'd be cool. And it wouldn't be very trashy.
Good Luck!

Bring out the artist in you,
-XZ

(As for colors, try darker shades of grey/red/blue/orange with the black trim. Look up some inspiration on the web)
