This may be weird...

Question Posted Wednesday February 11 2009, 12:38 pm

How do I restrain myself from using ':D' ':P' ':)' etc excessively?
I mean, when I type, I use proper grammar and punctuation, but I use those smileys way too much. How do I get out of the habit of using them all the time?
Any tricks or techniques to this?

replace the :D with a haha or lol if something is funny
and make the haha a HAHA or hahahaha if it is really funny
you can use other words for :P too, like "mleh", and "bleh" are two of my favorites haha
and then the :) you usually put when you want to sound friendly or are happy about something right? you can often get the same effect like lengthening your words like "thisssss"

hope that helps
haha

(notice I said "haha" and not :D)
