Question Posted Tuesday September 16 2008, 7:26 pm

You answered my question about skipping meals.

What you said about starving kids in Africa was interesting and that explains a lot. But I was actually wondering if you knew why then anorexic people are so skeletal? They don't eat very much at all and are EXTREMELY THIN.

*And no I do NOT think that skeletal is the way to look. I don't want to be that thin. I was just wondering why they do not have really bloated stomachs like the starving kids, if what they are essentially doing is starving themselves.

Anorexics will go through what you're going through for the first few days of their starvation. This, of course, encourages them to keep eating less. Eventually, their body is forced to process the stored energy (fatty bloatedness).

In a sense, anorexics have nothing to "stockpile", because they eat next to nothing for long periods of time instead of "just" very little every now and then (Like you, who skipped meals for "only" two days, or starving kids in Africa who still eat, albiet not as much as they should).
