tie-dyeing

i have two white zip-up sweatshirts that i want to tie-dye. i have the dyeing kit(bottles not dye baths), the instructions for the different parrters are just really bad lol. for this first one i want to do something like this, [Link](Mouse over link to see full location), all over the sweatshirt.
then for the second one, i want a heart like this, [Link](Mouse over link to see full location), in the middle of the back of the sweatshirt and a crinkle pattern on the rest of the sweatshirt. how do i do the heart and the crinkle pattern without the colors mixing and getting all muddy?
