chocolate phone

i just got a new verizon chocolate phone today. i opened it and programed it and everything. about 5 hours later, i pushed the button on the side to take a picture, and the screen went black and it just keeps flashing the verizon wireless logo. i look the battery off and that didnt work. its been charging for about an hour, and i know the battery wasnt dead when it shut off. whats wrong with it?! and how can i fix it?
