Video iPod

Question Posted Friday August 10 2007, 12:39 am

So, I've had my video iPod since Jan of '06 so my year warrenty [sp?] thing has expired. And my iPod is broken. It won't turn on. I've tried to charge it, I've tried to turn it on,I've locked and unlocked it several times, I've plugged it into my computer and it still won't turn on. It's been 2 days since and it still won't work.

My family's really low on money right now and my computer is already broken and my mom is extremely mad about that. So I'm afraid to tell them that my iPod broke a few days after my computer did. And my sister has had bad exeriences with her iPods in the past so I guess our family has a kind of bias against iPods now? lol. But yeah, we've already spent a whole bunch of money on a vacation we're going on next week so yeah, again, low on money. I don't know what to do right now. I mean, the computer might be able to be fixed for like $20 [don't ask how.] so that's that. But an iPod, I heard, gets really pricey if you need to fix it so it's just better off buying a new one?

--Should I tell my parents that my iPod is broken? If so, when and how should I break it?

--Is there anyway that I possibly could fix it? Haha, maybe that's not a good idea

--How much [approximately] would it cost to get my video iPod fixed?

--Should I get it fixed or just get a new one?

--If I get a new one, what brand? Apple or some other company [if so, what brand?]

I really don't have money to buy my own, maybe like $120 but that's really about it. And about half of it is in another country currency so yeah, I'm about broke. I can't work [reasons left unsaid] and I can't earn money through any means [except like an allowance or something, which I don't get regularly] I really would like to have my iPod working by next week [vcacation time] because my parents would be curious as to why I'm without my iPod on a trip [I'm usually seen with my iPod 24/7] and yeah. Ahh help! What should I do????

actually, Apple has outstanding service, at least for me. I had/have an iPod video, and the screen had a humongous crack down the center. Of course my mother was ot to happy either but we went to Apple, the guy took our name and address and we had to make an Apple Acount. He walked to the back of the store came out with a brand new iPod video, handed it to me and said have a nice day. I would hope they would do the same for you, because it's obviouslly an internal problem. Just take it up there and see what they have to say. I would think you would need your mother with you though.

actually, i had no warranty whatsoever, seeing as i received it from best buy, and hadn't purchased an apple warranty. best buy wouldn't do jack about it, and they basically just made me pay $50 for them to look at it and say its broken. and then tell me they won't do anything.
to my understanding, i had no apple warranty at the time.
