It's a hard choice you have to decide for yourself. I know you are nervous, you're going to be. But, Make sure tha it's what you want. And don't ever say it's 'strange' to be gay. You are who you want to be. That is fine. and if people don't except it, they don't deserve to know you anyhow. Talk it over with your boyfriend about the sex thing. It is a big deal. Just make sure you are positive with what you choose to do.
