Piccolos What are some good brands for piccolos besides Gemeinhardts? Is Victory or Blessing good brands? I don't want to spend too much on a piccolo because it's going to be my last year. I have a Venus but one of my pads is leaking and I am not sure if I take it into Music & Arts they will be able to fix it because it's not a major brand. What do you think? Thank you. =]

hmm. well gemeinhardt is definitely a good brand but if you don't want to pay that much maybe you could look into Yamahas. my first flute was a yamaha and it was great. the website for the yamaha piccolos is - [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
in case you're interested. hmm. but about the piccolo you own, if you bring it into a music store they should be able to fix it for you. i don't think it would matter that it isn't a popular brand. good luck =] ]
Since it is your last year of band, I would say don't buy a new piccolo at all unless you're willing to go through the trouble of selling it. If Music and Arts is a good place for instrument tune-ups (I wouldn't know I've never heard of it), there's no reason why they should be able to replace or repair the pads on your piccolo. Are there any other music stores in your area that can fix it for you? I would google "piccolo repairs in 'your state'" and see what comes up.
If all else fails and you have to end up buying an inexpensive piccolo, buy a used one on ebay or look into renting one from a music store. ]
