Obviously you and this boy have been friends for quite awhile, and you seem to be pretty close to me. I think your friend is insecure that he's not your only best friend anymore. Explain to him that he's an awesome friend, but you have other friends you like to hang out with too. Remind him this doesn't take him out of the picture! Invite him to hang out with your friends, or sit with you guys at lunch. Things won't be exactly like they used to, but hopefully they'll get better as this friend becomes friends with your other friends.
