Greasy hair is where your hair is grimy feeling, even though you wash it enough. Greasy hair is very soft to the touch kind of the way it feels if you don't wash out all of the conditioner in it. It tends to be dull and flat looking, and it doesn't style easily. If your hair is greasy it makes it much harder to keep it looking nice.

Somewhat what the columnist below said, but when someone has greasy hair, it does not necessarily mean they don't take care of their hair. Some people wash their hair several times a day and still have greasy hair. In a lot of cases, it is when it's unkempt or not taken care of regularly, but there are people out there who has it, and can't control it even after taking care of their hair correctly.
Greasy hair is also known as "oily hair", or hair that looks shiny, or that literally looks like someone dumped baby oil in their hair and left in in. It gives it a wet look somewhat.
Also, there are products out there called "hair oil" which can make someone's hair greasy. So there 3 main causes to oily hair.

Usually greasy hair seems to be unkept, it looks kind of like it hasnt been washed in a while. And, it has a unusual shine to it. Mostly its probably because they didnt wash there hair out correctly...or htey dont wash it at all.
