Swarovski Crystals

Question Posted Wednesday December 13 2006, 6:42 pm

I ordered some Swarovski crystals and they arrived today in the mail.
They are "Hotfix / Iron-On"
I understand that Hotfix means that they will securely attach to any material (my cell phone in this case) but what should I do to heat them?

Hotfix/Iron-on is for fabrics mostly. You apply heat, the glue melts and 'seeps' into the fabric.

Most people at home would use an iron, but thats not a very good option, I would imagine, for putting them on your cell phone.

If they are individual crystals, and not some of the transfer-paper stuff, you might be able to use something else to heat them but I don't know if I would try it. For the most part I think the glue that comes on these is intended for use on Cloth. Its almost 'rubbery', melts somewhat easily, and it isn't brittle. I'm not sure you would even want to use it on something as non-porous as the plastic on a cell phone. I would think a 2-part epoxy would be better, or superglue if you are desperate.
