Shot.

Question Posted Monday September 18 2006, 6:51 pm

I went & got the birth control shot a couple days ago. On the box it says it should be injected into the muscle, but the nurse definitely didn't get it in that far. Will it still be effective? How do I know if it's working?

The nurse probably knows what she is doing, but you should call the doctor to ask if you are worried. The effects or symptoms of taking the shot should be similar to other birth control pills, but your doctor should have given you all that information. Please call the doctor and get all your answers from her/him. Do not ever be embarrassed or afraid to ask follow-up questions after a visit to clarify things. Women do it all the time, and it is expected!
