Is it safe to run when your pregnant?

Question Posted Tuesday September 12 2006, 10:55 pm

I am a runner. I do long distance. My workouts can be very tireing. My routine is one day endurance and one day speed. My endurance workouts are 45 min or more. My speed workouts change. Sometimes I have 300m, 200m, and 150m in one day or I may have to do 400m with 100m rest 8 times or I may do fertlecks or I may do 12 200m and have 200m rest. Like I said it varies every day, but I do things like that. I always try to give 100% but sometimes my workout is difficult for me and I get really bad headaches and throw up. My coach says this is perfectly normal and is actually a good thing. He says that my immune system is adapting to the workout and will gradually get easier. I try to eat a healthy as I can. My question comes down to this: Is it safe to run and be pregnant at the same time or is that dangerous and if so what can I do to stay in shape and not loose all that I have worked for? How should my eating habbits be?
