There are a number of ways! Out of curiosity, I read an article on this some time back. Some of the key signals are this:
1. He always seems to laugh no matter how terrible your jokes are.
2. He looks for an excuse to talk to you, then shortly afterwards, he realizes that he actually has nothing to talk about.
3. He gives you a playful wink.
4. You notice him, then when he sees you, his expression immediately turns to a grin.
5. He makes dumb jokes about you.
6. He offers to help you with just about anything.
7. He ends up late to class because it was much more important to walk you to yours.
8. He makes a lot of dumb mistakes when he's around you. (trips, runs into something, or is really quiet).

Well you can tell when a guy likes you by his body language. Does he smile at you often? Looks at you? Stares at you? Always agrees with you? Says hi? These are some simple questions you can ask yourself. Alsol its pretty hard to tell since we don't know the guy personally. You can also google it and type in "how do you know when a guy likes you".
