Mackenzie answered Saturday April 8 2006, 7:17 pm: Despite what you've heard and seen, religion isn't what you wear. It's how you feel. You can wear a yellow polo shirt.. and still have feelings and beliefs. "Preppy" clothing or otherwise, will not strip you of your beliefs. And if you think that you must dress how you "feel", then you're obviously doing this religion thing for all of the wrong reasons. Religion isn't about pleasing and convincing others, it's about finding a "direction" and "purpose" in life. YOUR LIFE.
Moving on, it's easy to snub and be frightened of what we don't understand. I'm assuming your Mother is looking down on the whole Wiccan religion because she doesn't know anything about it. I honestly feel your best bet is to be very open and level headed about this whole thing. Now, I've already answered a question just like this last night. If you want to "become a Wiccan", then you need to read up on what you're obviously changing yourself to follow. Go to the library. They have a huge section on Spirituality. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have your Mom look through these books, too. While she may never understand exactly WHY you'd like to convert, with your help she might be able to grasp your POINT and beliefs on all of this.
Looks like you have work to do. Best of luck to you. Hope you're able to find something suitable to your needs.
