electric bass

i know how to play the string bass in orchestra, so would it be easy for me to learn to play the electric bass or are they really different?

helloooo, ive played bass (elec.) for about a year now, and i havent taken any lessons whatsoever. a friend of mine taught me and i thought it was a quick learn. If you can play a standup bass, then itll take you like a week to get the feel of an elec bass.
