16/f with a question
A year ago my dad passed away from a brief illness(cancer) during his sickness i became very faithful to God, because my dad loved him and inspired me to God! After he passed away it seems like i`m not as close to God. I became angry at him for taking my dad. I miss my dad alot, and i want to go back to being strong in faith with God. I don't go to church as much, and i wish i can. I want to find other ways to be closer with God? Can you give me some ideas.
thanks.

Well, I know church is not the only place we can go for becoming closer to God, although it is a very great place to go if you know the people well enough to be open to them. Personally I like reading other things than the bible to find encouragement. A great book I would suggest would be "Blue Like Jazz", or "Searching for God Knows What", they are both written by Donald Miller. The first one I have read, and I guess is geared more for non-christians, and I really want to read the second one, because it sounds like it is more for people who want a deeper relationship with God. If you want, we can read through it together, and we can post thoughts about it to each other. As well as reading If you have someone that will be real with you about life, they are great people to go to. I know it is tough for girls to find deep relationships sometimes. Just talking about life in a non shallow way really helps shape who we are in Christ. Being honest with what is going on in life with the people around you is not something found very often, so when you are open and honest people see that and they know you are a person that they can talk to about serious things, Which is what i believe we are called to do. That is what being a true person is about. [ DustinACU's advice column | Ask DustinACU A Question ]
