OKay, about your question, i know 2 kinds of cover-ups. if your talking about crushes & jazz like that its when you like someone but you are covering up the obviousness by acting like you like someone else, even when you dont.
The other kind of cover up i know about it for bathing suits and its something that would cover up your skin like board shorts, skirt, surfer shirt, or a dress type thing.
