Question Posted Thursday August 19 2004, 4:49 pm

I don't even know how to put this into words. Me and my friend Sam were talking, and she's all...Hey, can you help my friend out? He needs to upload something onto that website you're into. I'm like...okay sure. And so we get to talking and we both REALLY like poetry and such. It's weird. And anyway a week later...we're still talking. Alot. He's asked me to call him 3 times. And I did. And we can talk about anything. He lives about 3 minutes away from me, and goes to a different highschool. I'm almost 16, and he'll be 17 next week. I can't decide how to go about knowing if he likes me because he's never really seen me. I mean, only in pictures. But he acts like it. And I just wondered what your opinion would be if you were in this situation from his perspective.

Hrmm, well, if I were in his position I would want to meet you in person. However, not being a mind-reader, I wouldn't know if that is where he stands.

From what I've heard, you both have quite a bit in common, so a meeting would probably be the best thing to do. Seeing as you live three minutes away from him, I think it would be good to designate a meeting place, and set up a time to meet him.

Unfortunately, the safety issue comes into play. Do you really know who he is? Have you ever seen him before?

To eliminate (some) of the threat, I would suggest planning to have some friends of yours go as well. It's much safer in a group than to be alone.

And finally, I would strongly suggest to remain yourself the entire time. It's easier to act differently to make someone happy than most people suspect. Having your friends along will help keep you yourself.

By the way, I'm sure that the final piece of advice sounds like the biggest cliche this side of Woody Allen, but it's true and it works.

I hope this helps!
