Question Posted Sunday August 1 2004, 12:36 pm

Hi, you don't know me but I saw your Xanga and saw that you're giving advice so I figured I'd give it a shot and see if you can help. My ex-girlfriend and I have been broken up for the past 8 months now. We broke up becuase of alot of stupid petty problems and mainly becuase I didn't treat her that well. Well we've been seeing eachother for the past month now and it things are completely different than before. She says she still has feelings for me even after all this time and I feel the same exact way. Well the problem is, her friends and a member of her family aren't too fond of us having a realtionship. I love her very much and am alittle unsure of how to proceed.

Any advice?

Well first you both have to make sure that what you really want is each other. Once you established that what you really want is each other I would say go for it. Whats more important to you? Her friends opinions of the relationship...or yours and hers. If you both proceed to start dating again in time they will understand that you both are happy and they will see this and their opinions of you two will change. I myself have been in a situation similar to this so I know how it is man. However if you feel it would be better, you could talk to her friends and the family member and see what it is they dont like. Explain what happened and how your going to change and so forth. Well I hope this has helped you out man. If you have any other questions feel free to ask away.

Hey! Well thanks foR the question, fiRst of all! PeRsonally, I neveR give Relationships a second shot. I just say to myself.. well if it didn't woRk out the fiRst time... then maybe it wasn't "meant to be", and I leave it at that. I suppose it's just a matteR of how you look at it. You can eitheR follow that "meant to be" and destiny cRap, oR you could look at it moRe Realisticly and say to youRself... well eveRy couple has theiR shaRe of pRoblems... and not eveRy Relationship is peRfect. Relationships become stRonger by acceptance and undeRstanding.. and I suppose if you just push them away saying it wasn't "meant to be", you could be missing out on something tRuly gReat. GRanted I don't know the whole stoRy, so I don't know why heR fRiends and family wouldn't want you two togetheR [you could be a cRiminal for all I know?] However, I say if you two still have feelings foR each other, you definitely need to go foR it and see wheRe it brIngs you! HeR fRiends and family may be disappointed and angeRed at fiRst, but the Respect they hold for heR will eventually lead to an undeRstanding of heR decision. Goodluck!! I hope eveRything goes well; keep me updated!! I'd love to heaR back fRom you!! =D
