Ok before every metal head runs in to correct me, I'm talking about bands like Peirce the Veil, Alesana, and Asking Alexandria as screamo. And screamo is the most understood term so deal with it. Anyway I'm wondering how to write a screamo song, and what makes a band screamo?
I may not be a heavy-metal head or fan but I know one thing. Every song out there that anyone has ever identified with has wha is called a hook. It's either a lyric, beat, chorus or rythem (a bass line even)that grabs you by the nose and sucks you in. Something memorable and identified as that artist.
Write the song that you yourself would actually want to listen to. Even if it doesn't turn out to be excactly what you wanted keep going. In the process you will learn the components that make a song what it is and how to write in your own style.
In your mind you already know what makes for a good "screamo" song or a band "screamo" and really it's your opinion tha matters over all because if you asked that question to other people the views would be quite different.
