Does doing house work count as exercise?

Question Posted Monday April 29 2013, 12:25 am

Does doing house work count as exercise?

I'm struggling to find things to do that I enjoy doing that also require a fair amount of effort to do. I figure that I should be doing house work anyway. Maybe I can just do more house work and that will count as exercise? two birds with the one stone sort of thing.

Housework is indeed a form of exercise. >Doctors however will recommend doing something aerobic regularly that gets your heart rate up for a period of time. <i think the minimum of time is 20 minutes for that. but don;t quote me on it. Research that online. I do yoga and enjoy it some but not enough to do it regularly. My husband will go for walks with me but walking though nice isn't necessarily fun enough to be drawn to it. And it doesn't get the heart rate up. So find someone to walk with and skip next to them instead. You can skip jump rope at home if you want for aerobic excercise or dance like crazy for a half hour to song after song of your favorites. But what I propose is skipping like little kids do. Its that little hop and jump forward you take as you alternate feet. That not only gives good exercise...I am winded afterwards...but its so silly and fun it actually raises our hormone level of the neuro transmitters in our brain responsible for healthy outlook on life, relieves stress and gets rid of depression after continuous use. It is something important to keep up too. Hope this inspires you

House work is considered a form of excersise- esspecially if youre hoovering, bending down, stretching up to dust corners etc. If you do a full job and dont leave it half way, I can say from exeperience you WILL feel tired. Of course, if youre doing housework all the time, you might acctually run out of housework! ...if only...
So if that happens, go for a jog. Go before breakfast every other day and go a little further each day. If you dont enjoy it, take an ipod with you- music will take your mind off it.
