How do I avoid getting carsick? When I go on a road trip I get very ill and vomit. I don't like to vomit, of course, so I try to avoid going on long trips. Motion sickness is awful!
My family has planned a nice vacation in a couple of weeks. The problem is that the trip will be a few hours long and I'm afraid I'll get car sick again. I always get carsick after being in the car longer than an hour so I'm pretty certain I'm going to end up ill.
How can avoid getting carsick this time?
I know there is medications to preventing carsickness but I'm not sure of the names of those medications. I know they're actually for motion sickness, but what are the names of a few affordable medications?
Is there anything else I can do besides taking medication for motion sickness?

A trick I use when I feel like I'm getting car sick: Take your thumb and middle/point/whatever finger works, and make a circle around your wrist on the other hand. Make the circle right on the bone, and hold it there.
It's kind of hard to explain, but I saw it on TV [I believe it was an episode of Oprah] and learned about this in health class, and it really does work.

Dramamine works wonders. It's expensive, but the generic version is wicked cheap and is the exact same thing.
Also, focusing on the front windshield of the car can help. Try bringing an iPod to distract you, and avoid focusing on things INSIDE the car (it'll make you dizzy faster). If you can sleep in the car, do that. Also, if you can drive, ask your parents if you can do some of the driving. I get motion sickess pretty badly, but if I'm driving, all my focus is on the road, and I don't notice at all.

there is a medication that's Over the Counter that you can get at a pharmacy. it helps a lot but the side effect is sleepyness. lol.
also, try focusing on what's ahead of you, like look through the front of the car as opposed to the side windows. focus on points far away such as a tree a few yards away. if you focus on points that are greater in distance from you, it helps
hope it gets better
