sizzlinmandolin answered Sunday November 12 2006, 8:23 pm: Make X stand for the width. Since the length is two times the width plus three, 2X+3 stands for the length. The perimiter is the sum of all of the sides. There are two widths and two lengths in a rectangle. So, you multiply the width times two, and multiply the length times two.
So, the equation would be
2X + 2(2X+3) = 36
