Question Posted Saturday February 11 2006, 2:53 am
I was just on a website, www.rotten.com, and i pretty much clicked on every picture on it. I'm not a murderer or anything, im a 15 year old girl. Basically i'm trying to say that i dont know what to do becuase I feel so dizzy and sick, and I think those pictures are going to be stuck in my head for the rest of my life? I dont know what made me look at them all, but i did and theres no turning back. How do i stop feeling so..i cant even find the word for it, and stop thinking about them, and function normally? Thanks, i'd really like to sleep, hah.
Some people it doesn't bother to much. They are only pictures after all. I would imagine you have a big mix of feelings. Shock, amazement and then guilt because you were amazed! It is natural though.
Your best bet will be to do something nice before you go to bed to occupy your mind. It may not work to be honest, it may take a couple of days to get over. They are about as graphic as you can get without being there. The feeling will more than likely not be with you the rest of your life. More pleasant things will put it to the back of your mind.
As a former emergency worker I can tell you the pictures, while being very horrid, are not near as bad as actually seeing it... complete with smell. Eww. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

Afterwards, you should be quite tired, so get a rest. If you're not tired enough to sleep, read a book, just make sure it's not a horror story or something like that. Okay, so that advice was very mundane, but really, don't feel guilty for looking at them, just accept that you did it, and after an appropriate amount of time berating yourself, move on. There's worse things happening in the world, so you don't need to feel bad for what you did. [ viviena's advice column | Ask viviena A Question ]

I know what you mean, the site has some pretty vulgar pictures that can disturb many. the funny thing is is that your say that you got dizzy and sick and it wasn't because you had a choice, it was your bodies natural response to your feelings. As for sleeping it should be gone within the next day, so just surround yourself by people and do a lot of talking and less thinking about what you saw. Sounds stupid and cheesy but it actually works.
