If I get teased

Question Posted Monday December 13 2004, 9:16 pm

I love singing cuz I look up to Alicia Keys I take up piano and I love to sing but my brother and sister make fun of me.Whenever I plan on writing songs I need the right sound but my sister won't let me use the keyboard. She yells at me no it's in my room not yours do you apprehend or is that to big a word for you and so I have to tell her something in big words so she'll shut up for a few minutes.I go to my room and second guess my talent.I wonder when I was in the 4th grade was I only in the All city chorus cuz the other people sucked? If I want to live my dream what should I do while juggling myschool, love, home, and musical life at once? I have too much pressure what do I do?

music is something you obviously enjoy. don't give up on that! being brats is just a way fir siblings to get attention, so don't bother listening to your sister when she's in one of those moods. if you want to write music (something i enjoy)i am sure their is another keyboard or piano you can use(check your school if you attend one, or maybe a community center or friend could let you use one). don't worry about being picked on, that shouldn't stop your dreams. real friends will like you just as you are. they'll probsbly love your music too. good luck!

Don't sweat it, and don't worry about what other people think. And what do you mean you don't have time to sing?? You can sing anywhere. Your room while your doing your homework or chores....outside...wherever. And if your school has some sort of music program, join that.

Definitely get in contact with your local music teacher to steer you in the right direction. You will also want to check out either a fine arts high school or college in the future.
In the meantime, I would be saving up money like crazy to have a keyboard (maybe Santa will bring you one). That way whenever you get a spare moment you can work on your songwriting. You just have to find a way to get it all done. It is a good skill to have, and balancing your time will help you in any job and life in the future.

I myself go to a fine arts school. I love writing songs! At first, I had a lot of people working against me, but if you are serious about your talent, then do everything you can to acheive your dream! I have written 10 songs and I am in the process of making a demo. Work hard, if you really love it. Have you ever thought that your sister might be jelous of you? Maybe she wished she could write songs like you. I would check in you school choir room and talk to the choir teacher and tell her your passion for music and explain the situation with your sister and then ask if you can come in early a few days or stay after school and use the piano!

You can`t let people put you down like that. You can see what it`s doing to you. First of all, don`t give up on something you really love. When you feel strong emotion, just start writing. Write songs, let it all out. Then you can get your music written, & maybe you can talk this out with your sister. Tell her she`s really making you feel upset. I know sisters don`t usually understand that stuff, but i`m sure she`ll be better about it. I`m sure your talented at what you do. I hope this helped a little bit.

WTF answered Monday December 13 2004, 9:29 pm:
if you love music enough, do it no matter what, because music is important no matter what, and if you have talent you can get far and express yourself. as for the other stuff just set a specific time when you can do each activity so you schedule doesnt get too busy.
