I have a document in my documents that is bad. When I try to open it a message says that this document caused a serious problem the last time you opened it. It advises me not to open it. There is information in there I would like to copy and then delete the bad one. Is there a way to do this without opening it?

ok dont just open the damn thing, if it contains a macro ur computer can get a virus... next, right click the file... and goto open with... then click nopepad... or wordpad, they dont let macros run, especially notepad, you can never get anything wrong with notepad... copy the information, open a new document, paste it, save it, and delete the old one... RATE ME

yes do this... you have to directly connect to them first... before you connect to them do this... go to start>run and type in cmd... then type in netstat and press enter... this will show you all of the connections that your computer and programs have with the outside world... and the ip address its connected to... now directly connect to them... type in netstat again... see what ip address was added... that is theirs RATE ME

I have a problem with spyware. I turn on my computer and instead of my regular background it has this thing that says "Warning spyware.." blah blah blah. And you know on the bottom of your screen theres icons you can click, well its there too. It's making me mad...I have tried un-installing anything that it might be in my add/remove programs. Thats not doing anything. I'm hoping someone who knows a lot of computers could help me out. How do I get rid of this? And getting a spyware-removal program wont work, it seems to make it worse. ok heres a good answer, on my computer i have ZERO spyware and viruses, and ill tell you how to get ur computer like that too, heres the things you have to do... 1. get 3 different virus scanners... the ones that are installed on my computer are 1. norton antivirus 2. avast home edition 3. zone labs zone alarm built in antivirus 4. antivir XP you should only need 3 though, only one will be allowed to run in realtime though and scan fulltime because of a socket layer issue and if 2 run at once in realtime scanning it will conflict... you can do a full scan though with all of them at the same time, which i reccommend doing, the next thing... 2. get all of these anti-spyware tools... (these are all ligitimite and i use all of them and my computer is squeeky clean) 1. microsoft antispyware 2. adaware SE 3. spybot search and destroy 1.3 4. spyware doctor 5. spyware blaster after you download all of those install them and update all of them... now heres the big part, first what you want to is run the virus scanners, do a full system scan with all of them (assuming theyre fully up to date) and let them run until theyre all done, then use one to clean them, and then the next to clean the one its found... and so on n so fourth (because some virus scanners find some virus's that the others dont and vice versa... after that is done... run the spyware tools by doing a full system scan... let them all go at once, and then let the computer sit, eat dinner or something... then come back to it like an hour later, and start cleaning in this order... 1. adaware 2. spybot 3. microsoft antispyware 4. spyware docter... only because the first 2 yell at you kinda if you already clean something it found and it says like the parasite can not be found scanner will exit, then you just wasted time... spyware blaster, is more of a preventer than a cleaner... which is what you will need after this... now after that is done... download the firefox browser or the opera browser (i use both) which wont give you spyware, especially the opera one... but its a little bit less functional when it comes to flash plugins... 3 of the programs will watch your computer and make sure nothing else gets in 1. spyware blaster 2. spybot 3. microsoft antispyware 4. (somewhat) spyware docter but this can sometimes cause problems, so turn this option off in this program. you can find all of the mentioned programs in this answer at http://www.download.com/ also before you restart the computer... do this go to start>run and type in "msconfig" in the main page you will see "load startup items" uncheck that box, if you have printer or something that needs loaded or a program that "HAS" to load with the computer find it under the startup tab, and check only that program(s), because the rest are most likely melicious... one more thing before i go... you saying a spyware removel program wont work, if you do everything i just said in this peice of advice it will work, the ones you have are probably the popups that say "CLICK HERE FOR A SPYWARE SCAN" yea those are not good, the ones im talking about are good, trust me, this will completly take your hard drive and run it through a biggg screening test for viruses and spyware, and then put protections in place to protect against it, its kind of like sewage water going through a big screen first, then a smaller one and then a smaller one, until its just "dirty and brown" water, then you hit the chemicals, that take out all the toxins, and then finally you hit the distillers, which make it pure H2O, then its bottled (the bottle being the protection)... so that should help, contact me at wdarea51@gmail.com for any other questions, i can answer almost anything

just recently i've found that my scandisc and defrag: processes wont come to a conclusion!!
they just go on for hours and hours!!
sometimes a window will come up on scandsc: saying
another programme is preventing it from completing in normal time!....but I'm not aware of running
anything else.......any advice???? (link)

ok here is the correct answer to this question, or rather the best one... restart your computer, keep pressing F8 after the BIOS screen dissapears, you should then see the windows start option screen... go to safe mode... and hit enter. let it load in safe mode, now that it is in safe mode, nothing else but essential windows drivers and applications that run windows can run, safe mode blocks off anything else so you can diagnose your computer to see which program or driver is the faulty one in the event that the computer was broken or haveing problems, but they let you get into it anyway even if its not, so you can do stuff like that... run scan disk then and disk defrag... make sure your have at least 15% free space too or you might see that, becuause it has to have space to rearrange stuff. it is normal for the defragger to run for hours and hours and hours and hours... depending on how many files are on your drive, and how long it was since your last defragment, ide go into another chapter on how "exacly" defragging works but its irrelevent to the subject, so lets just say that it can take a while... the scanner should only take up to 1 or 2 hours tops... if its any more or "hangs" on a certain % then you might have to do a repair install of windows... or you might have a virus... let me know if this helped, contact me with any other questions you might have at wdarea51@gmail.com i can answer almost anything

Hi I'm 19/f and my boyfriend is 20/m. We've been going out for 2.5 years now and like every couple, we have our share of arguments.
The problem with my boyfriend is that he's beginning to develop a short fuse. The reason I say develop is because his anger has never been this bad, not until recently. Fortunately, he doesn't get violent, but he does say a lot of mean and hurtful things that he admits that he regrets later.
When I talk to him about it, he sincerely apologizes, and tells me that when he gets angry now, it's hard to control his anger. It's really bothering me that he's like this because it seems like he gets irritable more often over the silliest of things and his hurtful words are taking its toll on me and our relationship.
We've decided long ago to keep our disagreements and conflicts civil to the best of our ability, and it was working for the most part, but now I'm the only one putting in any real effort.
I know he doesn't mean it, and my question is if there is anything I can really do to help him? I'm usually good at giving myself advice on how to handle situations like these, but I feel I've tried everything. I've confronted him about it, when we fight I hardly raise my voice and I tell him to calm down, I've proposed taking breaks, just anything you can really imagine. Some say that I should threaten to leave him or something along those lines, but trust me, it only makes him more angry.
It's like male PMS or something, he gets more irritable than me sometimes!
And no, it's not because he's sexually frustrated. How I know it's not a problem is because we are very honest and open about sex and everything for that matter; our communication and sex life are great.
So really I need advice on if there is anything I can do (that I haven't tried) and if anyone knows where this sudden bad temperment could have come from? Thanks so much! (link)

ok, heres 2 answers, they both depend on how much you actually like him... 1. if you dont love him anymore because of how he is acting, you need to get out the relationship right now, hes going to eventually turn on you, and then your going to end up like one of those people you watch on CSI that theyre husband or boyfriend didnt like them anymore and killed them, or you will get into an abusive relationship and will be like one of those puppet girlfriends that keep running back for some unknown reason... i dont understand why when a girl gets hit, she just dossnt say "ok its over... until you care about me like you did when we started dating" and leave... if he does anything else call the cops, this is prolly gonna happen eventually, hopefully it dossnt, regardless of if you love him a lot or not... now 2. if you are completly attached to him, then you should just try to help him by saying you neeeeeeeddd to change, like now... have a longggg drug out talk with him, and also make sure theres not anything like drugs going on behind the scenes that he might be in denial about that he dossnt want you to know about... that could affect it... i hope this helped, ill be here for u if you want any other advice or if there are any updates... i hope this gets better, you can email me at wdarea51@gmail.com tell me waht you think of this and if u dont think it will work just tell me what you think is a good idea and ill tell you what i think :) good luck :)
