OK, so I accidentally left my computer running for about a day.
So when I shut the computer down, let it rest for a few hours, and turn it back on, my monitor settings are completely screwed.
It looks spherical--the text, that is. The icons are distorted, text is distorted, and my wallpaper is distorted. Everything is smaller, and my desktop takes up about half of the space on my monitor.
I've tried resetting it, letting the computer rest some more, unplugging and replugging the computer, etc., but nothing is working.
The operating system I'm using is Windows 98. Yes, I'm aware it's ancient, just please someone help me out!

Sounds to me like your monitor is all messed up. Try pluging your comp into another monitor, a friends perhaps or another one in the house and see if its still messed up. If your monitor has buttons or a wheel/knob on it, press 'em and see what they do, perhaps the settings got reset. From what you describe the settings on all the monitors that I have seen can 100% match your problem, and can be fixed in a few minutes.

There is this boy at my school. Last week, I did not know him at all. My friend knew him and showed me his myspace. I sent him a message asking if he knew my friend and he said yes and we began talking. We had never talked in person. I told him I would say hi to him sometime at school. I think he was beginning to figure out I had a crush on him. Today he was standing in the lunch line behind me and I thought it was the perfect chance. So I said hi and we talked shortly. Then I said "see you later" and that was it. I don't know what to do. I get shy when it comes to talking to him at school. I feel like I am being annoying over myspace though. Everyone tells me he is down to earth, nice, and funny. I just don't know how to get closer to him. I really want things to work. We can never have any classes together because he is a grade younger. He is so my type and I really want to tell him how I feel, but that would be too fast since we barely know each other.
Any takers?
It's a toughie, but PLEASE help. (link)

Im a guy and I know from personal experence that when a cute girl asks you out, its so awesome that you are almost guaranteed a "Yes." If you already talk to him, and he knows your name, you have your foot in the door. Just ask him out, to a movie or some generic sport event, it really makes no difference to us guys. If he is not a loser then he will go with you. You don't have to tell him you LOVE him or anything like that, just get to know him and decide if he is all that he is hyped up to be. You don't need to worry, there is only two reasons he could say no, either he already has a woman, or he is gay. Thats it. Unless your are REALLY UGLY and fat like 250 pounds but then again I have seen guys go out with them too... weird...

When I try to use my Limewire, it says that it is behind a firewall. The global icon with a brick on it is at the bottom.
How do I get the firewall off of Limewire? I went into the firewall settings and on the Exceptions log limewire is checked.
Is there anything I can do? (link)

The firewall it is refering to is one on your computer or in your network. Basicly any firewall or NAT device like a router will put limewire into firewall mode. Limewire does not actually have a firewall built into it, thats why you cant turn it off from limewire. Examine how your computer connects to the internet, if you plug your modem into your computer and you have no firewall software running, check if your windows firewall is on. If your modem connects to a router or another computer and then that router/computer connects to you, then you are using what is called Network Address Translation (NAT) and to limewire thats the same as a firewall. In any case, no firewall or NAT will effect limewire, and you wont get any other kind of weird effects on your connection by running limewire then you get when you don't run it, aside from the decreased bandwidth from downloading stuff. Hope this helps.

I'm not usually the one asking questions about computers but I had a little trouble. My sister and I 'Share' the same internet line. She lives accross town and we have dial-up. Well I was trying to test my personal firewall today and when I did I got this message on the hackwatch.org site:
"Unable to Probe
The IP address requesting this page is different from the IP address of your computer. This indicates that your computer is behind a proxy or NAT. These devices allow you to access the Internet by relaying traffic, typically from multiple computers, through a single IP address.
We are unable to directly probe your computer, you should take comfort from this. You have that much more protection between your computer and the Internet."
So could someone translate what this means?

A proxy server is a server that your computer uses to access the internet so that hackers and other strange things cant find your ip address and do bad things to your computer. A NAT device is usualy a router of some sort that splits up the signal from one connection and divides it up to more than one computer. From what it sounds like, you are most likley not behind a NAT and if you don't know what a proxy is then you are not using one. Sounds like something with your isp, they may force your connection through a proxy. If you only tried one time I say try again, it could be that you have a dynamic IP and you it changed on you right at that moment, but that would be lucky.
