Q: Is it possible for a person to lose 20-25 pounds by christmas if they eat healthy and work out a lot?
Hi there!

Based on what you've decided to share, I would definitely not lose such a large amount of weight in 2 months. According to dietitians, the healthy weight loss range is between 2-3 pounds per week, meaning that 2x4x2 = 16, you should aim to lose only about 16 pounds by Christmas. HOWEVER, it all depends on your height and physical activities! Don't push yourself too hard - instead, use an online BMI calculator and reach for a healthy BMI. Hope this helps, good luck!

Q: Hey,
So most people go on about wanting to loose weight and theres always diet tips in magazines. But the thing is I'm the opposite-underweight.
Anyone know any websites to give advice about building up muscles mass?
Thanks :)
Hey there!

I'm so glad that you're brave enough to do something about your body. In the process of gaining lean muscle mass, beware of nasty shortcuts! I remember when I was too skinny and needed to gain more weight- stay away from the bad carbs and junk food because even though the first few months are going to be tough, it'll get easier later on!

Now, onto your question, www.bodybuilder.com is an awesome site if you want to learn about building muscles. At the same time, try to find foods that work in your favour, www.livestrong.com can definitely help with that, along with exercising! Hope this helps, good luck!

Q: i'm 17/f . Around January i had a medical abortion and i never went to the check up appointment because i live too far away. i've never felt like anything was wrong, ive had normal periods and havent had any pains or anything. I've been on birth control since then, but this months period is SUPER light but i had horrible cramps like 4 days before i actually got it, i usually have a heavy flow that lasts like 5 days. But i know one of the effects of birth control is to shorten and lighten your period. I was wondering if it was possible that i could have a clot left over from the abortion that is blocking all my menstrual blood to go through, or if its just the birth control working its magic? please help!
Hi there!

It seems that you have really done your research beforehand. After an abortion, it may take up to 6 months for your menstrual cycle to settle, and lighter periods may be a result in the process. However, I don't think this is the case since it's been ten months. The other option is more likely, a widely experienced symptom of using birth control pills is lighter (usually 1-2 days) and much REDDER or BROWNER periods - so check for those symptoms! Cramps are also normal, along with heightened emotions or no PMS symptoms, depending on which pill you're on. Also, a less pleasant side effect of estrogen-rich birth control pills is severe migraines, do you have those? As for the abortion issues, you definitely NEED to go to followups, they're so important! Please do take care of yourself, I hope this helped.

Q: So i was suppose to start my period on the 22nd of October and i started the 24th so i was two days late . now im 4 days into my period but the third day it was light and now today its brown? any help? im alittle confused and i took a pregnancy test because me and my boyfiend have been having sex every weekend and i was alittle worried but it was negative.. Help please.
Hi there!

Having your period a little early or a bit late is perfectly normal, so don't worry! Brown periods usually occur at the beginning of your period or, in your case, close to the end. Again, that's perfectly normal! Weight fluctuations can also affect how heavy/light your period is. You only have to be worried when your period stops coming, but you're fine for now. Just remember, the highest chance of getting pregnant is right before your period starts, so when you have sex then keep close track of whether or now your period's late. Hope this helps!

Q: My mom said to stay away from the guy I like. I told him she said that and now he is staying away from me. We used to be best friends. What do I do? I am 12 years old and I am a girl.
Hi there,

I know that it's hard to understand your mother's intentions at this moment, but my best suggestion would be to listen to her - she probably sees something in your former best friend that you don't just yet! I remember when my own mum banned me from seeing a guy friend, turns out he did have some pretty serious issues and I'll be forever grateful to what my parents did for me. You're only 12 and your life's only beginning to bloom, don't be too worried over one guy at this point. If you really did appreciate his friendship, you can still say hi to each other in the halls! Hope this helps,
