Yes, the series "Buying Time" and "A Map for Bella", by Paula Kay are great books that feature just this. While it include other aspects also, being loved and making family from friends is a bog part. That also includes the more specific role of a mother and mother figure. If you do chose to read both of these series, it is important that you head the "Buying Time" one first.
