My dog has been acting really strange. Normally, she does things like this:
-sleeps on my bed, or in the living room
-plays with the toys on her bed
-barks at animals that walk by from either the front room window or the sliding glass door that looks out over the backyard [& we live on a corner]
-plays with you when you call her
-runs around outside when my dad goes out there

But lately she's been acting like this:
-not barking when she sees other animals
-laying under the computer desk when I sit here
-just basically laying around
-when I tell her to jump up on me, like I'm standing & pat my thighs, she just sits & looks at me
-when I call her up onto my bed, she just lays next to it like she's scared
-lays in the grass when we let her outside without the chain on [we have no fence]

I don't know why she's acting so bored, timid, & such. The only major difference in our lives is that my dad, who usually runs with her every couple days, got surgery & can't for a while. But I've tried taking her on walks every day or every other day to make sure she gets exercise/fresh air.

Is this just normal or is there something to be checked out? (link)
Well, you didn't mention her age so I don't know if that could be a reason as to why she's acting so different. Perhaps she's just not feeling too good, has an upset stomach or a cold(because thats how my cat acts when she's sick...she just hides & doesnt act "normal"). But it also could be the fact that her routine is messed up since your dad had surgery, maybe that was something she looked forward to each day & now things seem out of routine. Who knows? But if it gets more serious(like she stops eating) and it lasts longer then you might wanna take her to the vet in case(if you're that concerned).
Well i hope she goes back to actin normal.
best of luck

We have had our dog since I was young, for many years. I mean, like since I was 9 and now I'm 16. My mom used to work nightshift but now she works dayshift, and my dog cant handle her not being here. She's worked dayshift all summer but we were always home, and now that nobody is home during the day we put her in a cage. The problem is she gets out of the cage!! Even when we tied the cage with a rope!

My mom closes her bedroom door during the day because she doesnt want Hero out in the living room, but she ripped up my moms carpet at the door and pooped and peed in her bathroom. This is like the 3rd time she's done it...and now my parents are going to get rid of her!! I dont know what to do...I love my dog and I dont want to get rid of her...but my parents dont like her anymore...I dont know what to do!! Advice please! (link)
yea hey i agree with what the person below me said, try to convince your parents of ways to limit the bad behavior of the dog: dog training, toys, things of that sort. But if your parents really just wont go along with it and really are serious about giving your dog away, then sometimes its for the best. I know this sounds weird but I am a true animal lover and i had a dog that i had since i was 6 and now i'm 15. Recently my dad suggested we give him to someone my neighbor was friends with(she loved dogs and treated them real well). We had to give him to this lady because of the fact we didnt pay enough attention to my dog and we didn't properly take care of it, so it really wasnt fair for my dog. At 1st i was realllllly sad too because he was a super friendly dog but then i realized he would live a better life; in a house with an owner that has more time for him and stuff. The thing is if your dog is given away, dont just give it to ANY person, make sure you get to know the person and what they are like to animals and see if your dog is comfortable with that person, you could even check to see if this person would let you visit your dog once and a while. So yeah, thats just from personal experience, but I hope things work out and go for the best. (sorry my answer was long)!! hope i helped...

I have had a cat for 6 years and my sister recently got a new puppy, which is 7 months old. My sister lives in an apartment right above me and is always bringing the puppy down to play with us. The puppy is very active and loves to play and is extremely nice. However, my cat just seems to hate her...my cat puffs up immediately and hisses and scratches the dog continuously and this happens everytime they see eachother. The dog does not fight back and tries to get into play-mode, yet my cat is actually trying to fight. Any suggestions? (link)
This is a natural instinct sort of thing for a cat to react to when seeing a dog. So there is really nothing wrong, unless your cat is hurting the dog. anyways, i have 2 dogs and 3 cats and my dogs come in the house when we are home and each of my cats react differently. My one cat will puff up and hiss and everything to defend herself while the other 2 just slyly walk by once in a while not really minding the dogs. you can't really train a cat to "not be afraid of a dog" since like i said-it's instinct. But before i always used to be scared to have my dogs and cats together but then after a few months they just seemed fine with each other. I mean they weren't best friends but they aren't like enemies. I say just carefully always watch the 2 (cat and dog) when they are together and if the problem continues just make sure the dog isnt in the same room with the cat when your sister comes over. hope this helped and good luck

i was wondering how old a puppy had to be before u gave them rawhides. My dog is an extreme chewer and we gave her those until the vet told us she was to young when she was about 10 weeks old because her stomach couldnt haddle them yet. She is about 4 monthes and i was wondering if i could give her them again? (link)
yea you should probably wait a while for your puppy to grow up. But even so, when your dog is older, you shouldn't give her too much, it can sometimes upset their stomach. At least that's what happened to my dogs. But it depends on how sensitive of a stomach your dog has!! hope i helped!

ok, well i was on vacation for 9 days, i came back to find my hamster, decaying alive! It's so gross and nasty, i feel so bad for him, idk what to do! He has part of his skin missing, and fur, he can't walk or anything, i feel so bad. My parents won't let me take him to the vet, i think he has been alive for about 2 yrs or 1 1/2.....what should i do? PLEASE I NEED HELP :( HE IS MY BABY, I'LL DIE WITHOUT HIM! (link)
even if u cant get ur hamster to a vet. research as fast as u can or ask a friend or a teacher or something if they know about that. i have heard about something lyk that. my dog got bit by a venomous snake and they said his tissue mite go away and decay but it didnt happen cuz he got steoroids from the the vet(which is a medicine only give from the vet). Whatever u do..do it fast..i hope ur hamster is alright...he is in my thoughts. i love animals.
