Q: For the past five years or so, I've had an awful time trying to sleep. It's recently gotten so bad that I go days with just a couple hours of sleep. I feel awful and heavy and gross, but no matter how much I try, I can't sleep. I try to relax, I meditate, I do a little reading before bed, and I've taken medication.

I spent a whole month taking NyQuil because it was the only thing that made me tired enough to sleep. I tried benedryl too, which helped both my sleeping and allergies. But now, none of them are working anymore. I've spoken to my doctors about it, but they only gave me anti-anxiety pills and while they did make me a little drowsy, they made me feel horribly depressed too.

I've never been medically tested for insomnia, but I think I need to. I'm pretty sure that's what it is. I'm hardly ever sleepy and when I am, it's during the day when I have to be around people. Otherwise, I'm wide awake. And sometimes, after an all nighter, I'm exhausted, but push through the day so I'm tired by the time bedtime comes around, but as soon as it gets dark, I'm wide awake and active. I really need help because this is driving me insane, and my mom too as I still live with her and she constantly complains about my staying up all night and taking naps during the day.

Can I get this medically tested? If so, what kind of procedure is it? Are there any natural remedies I can try aside from meditation?
Hi,
Insomnia can occur at different ages, and due to many things, like: stress, anxiety, depression, illness, drugs & medication, hormones (e.g. during menopause), lifestyle (e.g. working nights), and more.
It is important to know that Insomnia is most commonly a symptom of a condition, rather than a condition itself, so it is important to work out what is causing it.
So, did your doctors give you anxiety medication because they thought you had anxiety (which was causing your insomnia), or was it a last resort to help you sleep? I wouldn't approve of giving anxiety pills to someone without anxiety, because that isn't really helping. Anyway, it might be important to think if you have felt depressed, anxious or stressed for the last 5 years.
I think you should see a professional in sleep medicine. Insomnia that has been going on for years definitely needs a professional to help, and can take time to fix. Help can include medications, behavioural therapy, and sleep diaries (to help pinpoint the pattern of insomnia), and others. A specialist might combine the use of behavioural practices and medication(behavioural practices can include simple things like not napping during the day, to more complicated behavioural therapies, which a specialist could explain to you).
Unfortunately I am not aware of many natural remedies, but I would suggest asking your doctors for a referral to a specialist, or ask them for advice on how to get into contact with a sleep specialist (I am not from the USA, so I can't help you with that, sorry) You should try this website, which I think can help you find a specialist:

http://www.sleepfoundation.org/

I also found this website, which lists some simple, natural things as well as a couple of medications.

http://health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/natural-medicine/home-remedies/10-home-remedies-for-insomnia.htm

But, because your insomnia has been going on for years, it might be more helpful to see a professional rather than find a herb to help you sleep. Whatever it is that will help you sleep, I really hope you find it :)

Q: First of all I have emetophobia so I am terrified of throw up. My mom's stomach felt a little off last night and she woke up at 3 this morning sure she would throw up. She didn't but all day today nausea has been coming and going. It is worse at some points than it is others. We haven't found any pattern in when the nausea comes and goes. I have given her many methods of remedies and she never tried them. Again, she hasn't thrown up at all. Could this be a virus? If so how do I avoid getting it? And if not, what is it and how can she feel better? Btw she is 42 and not about to be on her period. Thanks! :D
Hi, it sounds like your mum has a virus. She should go to the doctors to have it checked out, and she will most likely be prescribed with anti-biotics. However, it is important she goes to see her doctor about it.
I have experienced something similar, but I waited too long to go to the doctors, and ended up feeling nauseous for months because the virus got worse.
Hope she feels better soon :)

Q: All my life, I've had pretty clear skin. I never had severe acne or anything like that. However, I have an oily and pimple-prone T-zone: my forehead (between my eyebrows especially) and around my nose. I use an acne-control medicine (even though I just have the occasional zit) to keep that part of my face oil-free. Currently, it looks great and there are no pimples anywhere on my face. I'm really sorry this is gross, but although my face is oil-free and pimple-free now, there are these little bumps (NOT pimples or pimples to be) on my forehead. They don't hurt and they're just skin color (not red / pink / white). It's not necessary for me to go to the doctor, so please do not suggest that, but does anyone know why this is happening and / or how to make the skin on my forehead flat and smooth without being oily?
If you have what I am thinking of, then it isn't anything serious, and I think that using facial wash should make them go away eventually.
I have alot of those bumps. I call them sweat spots, because I don't know the proper name for them. People usually get them from sweating, or from having oily skin (I also have oily skin like you).
I wouldn't worry about these too much. I usually cover mine with a bit of concealer or foundation, but this can make them worse, so I don't do it often (and if they are big, they look bad with make-up on them, so be careful ;))

The only thing I can recomend is washing your face everyday, washing make-up off as soon as you get home, and maybe - when you feel your face getting oily or sweaty - dab or wipe it with a tissue or your sleave or something.

Hopefully you get this sorted out.

PS. your spots might not be what I have said, but I am just saying what I think it is.
They could also be scars from picking or popping your pimples, and these scars don't go away, so make sure you never pop or pick at your pimples ;]

Good luck,
-Natalie

Q: 15/f
my feet are really dry and cracked.. because of the winter season arriving i suppose. it just really disgusts me. [i have a thing with feet lol] is there any other home remidies other then warm soapy water i could use to make them soft & nicerr? :]
I know what you mean, I hate feet but it is worse when they are dry or have toe fungus :S

The only thing I can think of is foot cream or moisturiser.
Sorry if I am not good help or if I made a spelling mistake.

Q: every time i cry alot before i go to sleep in the morning my eyes are extremely puffy.they stay puffy for a couple of hours.is there anything i could do or put on them that will make my eyes not be puffy.thanks!
I read somewhere that you can put Ice one your eyes to make them not puffy. Make sure you rap the ice in something (like cloth or paper towel) so you don't damage your eyes with the ice and make them too cold. And make sure your eyes are closed, of course!
I have never tried this technique before, so I don't know if it will work or not. But maybe you should give it a try. :)

Q: Right now i started to get Lots of brown liquid stuff on my panties I asked my sister what it means she said that Its bad and should go to doctor. Does it mean Im sick or My period is starting.
i am not quite sure, but i am 85% sure it is your period.
when i got my period i was scared because it wasn't red, it was a brown-ish red-ish colour! and i think you might be getting the same thing as me. i dont know why it is that colour. i think maybe it is just dried blood.
