about

I'm 16, female, from the UK. I don't want to bore you with an autobiography, so I'll make it short! I like playing the piano, ju-jitsu, swimming, and shopping! My friends say I'm pretty good with helping them with problems, so I thought I'd try out my talents on you guys! Oh and I also like interpreting dreams, so if you've had a weird dream recently that's puzzling you, send it my way and I'll have a stab at it!

advice

I have piano lessons and I love it. My mom says that im probably going to quit because I dont practice. But i do practice! She just never listens! I really really really dont want to quit Piano! Music is my life! I have an absolute passion for it! I LOVE music!
Ana

WOOOOOOO I'm really glad you love playing the piano! I do too! You should prove your mum wrong and practise when you know she's listening. And don't let her talk you into quitting, it sounds like you're really into it and if you keep going you could get really good.

is there any place to find like rock piano tabs for free? like bowling for soup or avril lavigne? any help would be good!
thanx

I think it's illegal to put free sheet music on the internet, so you'd be pretty stuck if you don't want to pay. The only sheet music I managed to find was music from obscure japanese games, and I don't really think that's what you want! By the way, Avril Lavigne piano music isn't that good, regardless of what you think of the songs. I was bought a book with her piano music in it for my birthday, and to tell you the truth the pieces are a bit boring and samey to play. Just warning you!

Hey, I need to find out how to explain to kids the differences between 3/4 tempo, 3/6 tempo, 5/4 tempo, 5/6 tempo and 5/8 tempo. I'm a tap teacher and want to explain differences in rhythm but want to be well informed on the subject!!
Cheers,
the munkee

OK first of all, there isn't any such time signatures as 3/6 and 5/6. But I can help you with the others!
Explain to the students that any time signature that ends in a 4 (e.g 3/4) is in crotchets (beats that last 1 beat), so for example 3/4 means that there is 3 crotchets in a bar.
Any time signature that ends in an 8 is in quavers (beats that last half a beat), so for example 5/8 (which, by the way, is hardly ever used in music) has 5 quavers in a bar.
Then maybe play them examples of music in different times, and the rest is up to you, after all you're the teacher!
Hope I helped!

i have stage frite! when im singing w/ my music teacher or around my friends or for an audition for a play by myself, i barely sing! im so nervous! but when im by myself singing or singing to my cds, i think i sound pretty good! i mean i must be since i keep getting nominated for things like all county, nyssma, select choir, etc. im just SO nervous! how can i get over this REALLY annoying feeling? thanks in advance!

ps-i have another audition for a musical auguest 1st

Well you must be singing quite well in front of people because they've noticed and nominated you for things. And everyone gets nervous before a performance and while they're on stage, but the way that I get over it is to pretend the audience isn't there. I know it sounds hard to do, but seriously, if you just imagine you're in the shower or something singing on your own then your voice will come through strong and confident. Also try things like drinking hot drinks before a performance as these help your throat.
P.S good luck with your audition!
