About kittenlover2000

I'll answer question on pretty much anything, though as I'm studying psychology and from past experience, I'm best at answering questions about love life, mental illness as well as giving career advice or job advice. I am also really into fashion and love these types of questions!. Oh and any pet help...

I have an average rating of 4.5 on here. Only inbox me questions that are short please and not about death/suicide. Honestly, there's nothing more dull that opening your inbox to 'I want to die'.

Anyway, ask away and I'll try to help out :)

hey i've been having a heavy heart beat every time i take a bath or get up from the bath. i also get heart palpitations at night before i go to bed. I am also a healthy and fit 18 year old girl with a history of anxiety BUT i've not once ever had this problem which leads me to question if this is heart related? i would love to read something comforting as this is a scary time for me please. please respond..

Surely the best comfort is knowing exactly what's going on i.e: seeing your doctor.

Palpations are quite commons with people with diagnosed anxiety. So I reckon the doctor will teach you how to cope with the anxiety first (meditation, herbal teas etc)to reduce the heart rate rather than right off putting you on powerful heart meds.

Have you considered that your anxiety may be making you think its something a lot more serious than it is? I have anxiety too, diagnosed. And really-you've GOT to learn how to control it else it'll control you. When I say control you, you'll see the physical symptoms a lot more.

So yeh, see your doctor. I suspect its anxiety related because palpations-they don't just happen without no other symptom. They are a strong symptom for anxiety and there are drugs out there if needed, like beta blockers which can for temporary use put things right again. Though they only give you this in serious cases as you're only 18....

Speak to your doctor-this complaint is a lot more common than you think and its best to not jump to conclusions until you know the facts. Meanwhile the best thing you can do is to try and take stresses out of your life-or rather learn how to cope with them more effectively. This helped me-hopefully it'll help you too.

Its a self therapy-that CAN also be taught to you. There is no right or wrong way of learning it-but tbh you've got nothing to lose by trying.
