you dont have to sound desperate and obvious. Just casually ask her if she wants to go to the movies with you or something on the lines of that. then the next week again and again the week after that.After you get closer, then you can formally ask her out and you'll have a reason to; you got to know the girl a little better!

Yes but u don't get to know people at the movies, I do take girls out but I have a rule against movies, the second it starts just blankness
