Well you should always always use a condom, whether you're on birth control or not. There aren't many other ways to prevent pregnancy other than those two (besides abstinence). Don't believe the "pull out" method, because pre-cum can contain sperm also, and there is a chance that that could get you pregnant. Something that COULD work is something called the "rhythm method". This is when you find out when you're ovulating, and don't have sex during this time. (Ovulating is when your egg has dropped into your utereus in preparation for pregnancy). If there is no egg, you cannot get pregnant. How do you know when you're ovulating? "lovetoknow.com" says:
Generally, ovulation takes place sometime around day 14 of a woman’s cycle. This estimate is based upon a 28-day cycle. Women with a regular cycle lasting 28 days can count 14 days from the first day of their period and mark the three days before and after as their most fertile days, just in case their ovulation date is a day or two off.
So if you can determine when those days are, mark them on your calendar and do NOT have sex during those days, especially if you're not on the pill (still use a condom though). :)
