My mother's a beautician and I'm what you can call her highlighting guinnipig. I've had highlights and lowlights, the whole 9 yards. So if you would like to dye your whole head completely with the same color you used for your highlights, you most definitely can. The only thing is if you still have the highlights in your hair there's a 90% chance that since your hair is darker naturally you will see your roots when they grow in and the already highlighted parts are not going to show up as the same shade as the rest of your head. They will be a few shades lighter. For example, I am a dirty blonde with beige blonde highlights, everytime i get them re-done, the spots that were previously died gradually get lighter, and in some spots the hair is almost bleach blonde(which is a big difference from beige) Sorry so long. Hope I helped.
