i'm not sure if there's something wrong, but recently i've noticed that when i urinate it smells really awful and my vagina is a wee bit swollen, but i put the swelling down to my boyfriend fingering me the other night, which normally happens. could this be the cause of the smell or could it be something to do with my diet? i'm fairly healthy and haven't changed my diet at all, so could i have an infection?

cheers, help would be greatly appreciated :)

You're right about it being swollen because of your boyfriend fingering you.

The smell could be because of an infection, or it could be from him fingering you. I've noticed after my boyfriend has fingered me, there's a slight odor. Just be sure to wash your vagina every day.

Here's some symptoms/websites about a urine infection that you should check up on:

**Symptoms of UTI or bladder infection are not easy to miss and include a strong urge to urinate that cannot be delayed which is followed by a sharp pain or burning sensation in the urethra when the urine is released. Most often very little urine is released and the urine that is released may be tinged with blood. The urge to urinate recurs quickly and soreness may occur in the lower abdomen, back, or sides.

This cycle may repeat itself frequently during the day or night--most people urinate about six times a day, when the need to urinate occurs more often a bladder infection should be suspected.

When bacteria enters the ureters and spread to the kidneys, symptoms such as back pain, chills, fever, nausea, and vomiting may occur, as well as the previous symptoms of lower urinary tract infection.**

If even after washing it every day, the odor doesn't fade, call your doctor. But I've noticed usually before my period my urine starts to have an odor? Or right after my period.

Hope I helped, let me know.
